This is a hybridizer’s flower. Why do I say that? It has some of the best scapes in the garden – wide spaced branching that allows the big flowers to open without crowding. The tall scapes are in perfect proportion to the foliage. The flowers open early and flat in a pale apricot cream with a multicolored complex patterned eye of rose, mauve, lavender and gray with a rose picotee and a citron green throat. Finally it is easily fertile both ways. It is so pod fertile I use it to test the fertility of other pollens. If it does not set on MONTANA it is probably not good pollen. It is not uncommon to have 15 pods on a scape from 7 different pollen parents. Wonderful parent. Easily fertile both ways.
