The Hemerocallis cultivar,’Fancy Face Diva Doll’ identified as seedling number 224-21 is an exemplary tetraploid daylily known for its distinctive floral morphology and robust horticultural traits. This cultivar produces large flowers ranging from 6.5 to 8.5 inches in diameter, characterized by a creamy base color intricately patterned with a blueish violet and maroon eye zone. The petals’ edges mirror the eye zone’s colors and are adorned with fine teeth and tentacles, enhancing the flower’s textural complexity. A vivid, intense green throat provides a striking contrast that accentuates the intricate patterns of the eye zone and edging. Growing to a height of 28 inches, this daylily blooms in early to midseason and features evergreen foliage, beneficial for extended morning opening (emo) and fragrant (fr) properties, adding sensory value to its ornamental display. The plant exhibits 3-5 way branching and supports a bud count of 18-30, ensuring a prolific and sustained flowering period. Fancy Face Diva Doll is fertile both ways, indicating its potential utility in hybridization programs aimed at developing new cultivars with intricate patterns and textured edges. It is a consistent rebloomer and has demonstrated very good resistance to rust, leaf streak, and insect damage, affirming its adaptability and resilience across diverse environmental conditions. Suitable for cultivation in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5-10, this daylily combines exceptional ornamental qualities with strong agronomic performance, making it a valuable addition to both commercial and private gardens, as well as in breeding programs focused on ornamental innovation and sustainability.
