Charlie Matia (Paul K. Lewis, Spring 2021) 2 Fans

Charlie Matia Daylily (Paul K. Lewis, Spring 2021) (Born To Run (Stamile) X Dale Hensley (Smith)) Tet., Sev, M, 5″ bloom, 25″ scape, 2 to 3 way branching, 15 buds.
HYBRIDIZER NOTES: “This lovely red daylily almost got killed off many years ago when I sprayed a chemical for nut grass control and over sprayed on this daylily’s foliage. Managed to save a single fan and nursed it along back to health. Formed a nice clump and I couldn’t walk by this flower without stopping and taking it all in. It is a special daylily and had to be named for a family member. Charlie Matia is my nephew and is the spitting image of both my father and my grandfather when they were younger. Charlie, like my grandfather is a very gifted athlete. Charlie Matia the daylily is a cardinal red bloom with a lovely cream colored watermark and corresponding cream colored edge, all blending into a yellow green throat. Easily fertile both ways. Charlie Matia is a front of the border daylily. Plant it there and you will be rewarded with an amazing red you won’t be able to walk by on any given day.” Pictures are the hybridizers used used with permission.
